Rob Sarro

Engineering leader and entrepreneur.

17 years in software quality, 11 leading teams across SaaS, cloud-native, and regulated enterprise environments — quality owned across the whole SDLC, not bolted on at the end.

Engineering Leadership

I build QA organizations, own release delivery, and drive quality strategy across the whole SDLC — currently for Anaconda's AI platform with 19 team members across multiple timezones and release metrics across 27 active projects.

  • Building and scaling QA organizations up to 22 engineers
  • Release management, DORA metrics, and Go/No-Go governance
  • Test automation strategy in Playwright, pytest, and CI/CD
  • Leading AI adoption and measuring its real throughput impact

Entrepreneurship

I run Sarro Solutions LLC and founded Famorama, shipping it across web, iOS, and Android. Running the full SDLC solo — spec through production release — keeps me honest about what shipping actually costs.

  • Founder of Sarro Solutions LLC and Famorama
  • Full-stack product delivery on Next.js, TypeScript, Postgres, and Vercel
  • Solo ownership of spec, architecture, automation, CI/CD, and release

About

Seventeen years in software quality, eleven leading teams, and a decade of building things on the side.

I'm Rob — a QA engineering leader with 17 years in software quality and 11 leading teams across SaaS, cloud-native (AWS, GCP, Kubernetes), and regulated enterprise environments. I build QA organizations, own release delivery, and drive quality strategy across the whole SDLC.

Today I lead QA engineering for Anaconda's AI platform with 19 team members across multiple timezones, while also serving as release manager after building the release process from scratch. I own release metrics across 27 active projects — cycle time, change failure rate, and on-time delivery — and I stay hands-on in the test repositories rather than managing from a distance.

I'm currently leading AI adoption across the team, using GitHub Copilot in code review and Claude Code in daily execution with custom skills and agents. We measure the throughput impact rather than assuming it — that instinct to instrument first is the same one I bring to quality itself.

I've also been an entrepreneur the whole way through. I run Sarro Solutions LLC and founded Famorama, shipping it across web, iOS, and Android. Running the full SDLC solo — spec through production release — keeps me honest about what shipping actually costs, and it makes me a better leader when I ask my team for it.

A layoff in 2024 kicked all of it off, and honestly it was a gift. I started a business that failed, took a role that wasn't the right fit, launched Famorama, and landed at Anaconda — all inside a year. I came out of it a better engineer, a better leader, and a lot clearer about what I want to build.

Outside of work I'm a husband, a father of five, and outnumbered by three needy labs. I'm up at 6:00 AM for journaling and dedicated learning before the workday starts — new tools, leadership, business, whatever is useful or just interesting. Consistency beats intensity.

Engineering Leadership

Building QA organizations, owning release delivery, and making quality a property of how work moves — not a gate at the end of it.

AI-Driven Testing Transformation

Led team-wide adoption of AI-assisted development tools including Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, and Cursor, cutting time to automate frontend and backend coverage by roughly 70% across all supported products.

Leadership Under Pressure

Served as interim VP of Engineering for ~6 months, owning delivery and planning for the full engineering organization while continuing to run QA and DevOps.

Professional Experience

  1. Oct 2025 — Present · Remote

Manager - Quality & Delivery Engineering

    Anaconda, Inc.

Lead QA and release management for Anaconda's AI platform with 19 engineers across multiple timezones, owning hiring, development, and performance. Built the release process from scratch — taking the organization from no release visibility to full visibility on dates, content, ownership, and checklists — and now define and enforce cycle time, change failure rate, and on-time delivery across multiple releases per month. I also lead AI adoption across the QA organization, coaching GitHub Copilot for code review and Claude Code for execution with custom skills and agents, and own capacity planning across 27 active projects.

  2. May 2025 — Sep 2025 · Remote

    QA Engineering Manager

    ServiceUp

Built the QA function from the ground up at an early-stage startup, standing up a Playwright framework integrated with CI/CD that reached 20% automated coverage of core workflows within the first 60 days. Set test strategy around high-risk areas, partnered with Engineering and Product leadership to shift testing left, and directed API testing initiatives that gave the team repeatable contract and integration validation.

  3. Sep 2023 — Mar 2025 · Remote

    Senior Quality Assurance Manager

    Virtuous

Cut customer-reported defects from 70% to 40% within 90 days by redesigning sprint-based QA processes rather than adding headcount, and scaled the Playwright suite from 10 isolated tests to over 500 cross-product tests at 80% coverage of critical user journeys. Institutionalized quality gates requiring at least one automated test per pull request, established executive-level dashboards tracking defect escape velocity and origin, and hired and mentored a team of five.

  4. Feb 2022 — Sep 2023 · Remote

    Senior QA and DevOps Manager

    Raptor Technologies

Owned both QA and DevOps, spanning test strategy, pipeline management, and release execution. Designed and deployed a Python and PyTest automation framework within 30 days, integrated with TestRail and Azure DevOps, and transformed manual QA staff into automation engineers through hands-on coaching that cut test execution time by 50%.

  5. Nov 2020 — Feb 2022 · Remote

    Senior Services Delivery Engineer

    BigID

Technical point of contact for enterprise customers across 15+ engagements, owning delivery from kickoff through production handoff. Deployed the platform across AWS, GCP, and Kubernetes with integrations to 100+ data sources, and gathered requirements directly from CISOs and IT leaders to deliver GDPR and CCPA data discovery programs in regulated environments.

  6. May 2016 — Nov 2020 · Waltham, MA

    Quality Engineering Manager

    Hitachi Vantara (formerly Pentaho)

Managed 22 QA engineers across multiple timezones through and after the Hitachi Vantara acquisition, owning growth, hiring, and technical direction. Set QA strategy and roadmap for Pentaho's data integration and analytics platform, built data-driven automation frameworks for complex ETL and analytics workflows that raised coverage to 90% of core functionality, and drove QA practice adoption across 8 agile teams.

Entrepreneurship

I've built and run my own businesses alongside my career. Owning the full SDLC solo — spec through production release — keeps me close to what shipping actually costs.
